From the Salem Police Department:
At approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday evening, officers with the Salem Police Department responded to the 700 block of south Elmer after receiving information that a shooting had taken place and a victim was shot and rushed to the ER, and later flown out for treatment.
The reported shooter remained inside the residence and refused to comply with officers’ commands to exit. A perimeter was established with the assistance of the Dent County Sheriff’s Office and Highway Patrol.
Rolla SWAT was contacted and responded to the scene to assist. The reported shooter was taken into custody without incident after a prolonged standoff.
The investigation is ongoing. Additional
information will be released as it becomes available.
