4th of July Safety

From the Sharp County Sherriff’s Office:

As we celebrate our Nation’s Independence Day, I want everyone to enjoy a safe and responsible July 4th holiday. Here is a few things to keep in mind:

Fireworks Safety:
Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby, never allow young children to handle fireworks, and never relight a “dud.” Be mindful of neighbors, pets, and dry conditions.

Travel & Traffic:
Expect increased traffic on the roads. Always buckle up, obey speed limits, and never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Plan ahead for a sober ride.

Grill & Fire Safety:
Keep grills away from buildings, overhangs, and dry grass. Never leave them unattended while in use.

Water Safety:
If your celebrations involve lakes or rivers, wear a life jacket, avoid alcohol while swimming or boating, and always supervise children around water.
We’re proud to serve this community, and your safety is our priority. Deputies will be out and ready to respond if needed. Have a fun, safe, and respectful Independence Day!
