Seal coating is a maintenance technique used primarily on lower-traffic roads to extend pavement life. The process involves spraying a hot emulsion oil layer, applying finely crushed rock, and compacting the surface to create a durable, weather-resistant roadway. This cost-effective method enhances traction and can extend the life of a road by up to seven years.

MoDOT urges drivers to proceed with caution in the marked work zone.
