Seal Coat Project to Temporarily Impact Route W in Howell County

Drivers in Howell County should prepare for possible delays as contractor crews begin seal coat operations on Route W in Mountain View, Missouri.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced that surface improvements will take place from Route 17 to David Drive. A 12-foot width restriction will be in effect during the project.

Weather permitting, the work is scheduled to run from Tuesday, July 1 through Monday, July 14, with crews on site daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Seal coating is a cost-effective maintenance process used on low-traffic roadways to extend pavement life and improve safety. The method involves applying a layer of hot emulsion oil, followed by finely crushed rock, which is compacted into the surface. The result is a smoother, more durable roadway surface that resists water damage and provides better traction.

MoDOT urges motorists to use caution in the work zone, which will be clearly marked with signage.
