Motorists traveling along Route CC in Ozark and Howell Counties should prepare for traffic impacts as contractor crews begin seal coat operations to improve the driving surface.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced that work will take place from Route 181 in Ozark County to Route 63 in Howell County. A 12-foot width restriction will be in effect throughout the project duration.
Weather permitting, the seal coat process will be underway daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., starting Thursday, March 25 through Monday, July 14.
Seal coating involves applying a layer of hot emulsion oil to the roadway, followed by a layer of finely ground rock that is compacted into the surface. The cost-effective method—roughly a third of the price of a traditional asphalt overlay—extends roadway life by up to seven years and enhances traction while preventing water intrusion.
MoDOT advises drivers to use extra caution near the work zone, which will be clearly marked with signage.
