Senate President Pro Tem Cindy O’Laughlin has appointed Sen. Brad Hudson, R-Cape Fair, to leadership roles on two newly established Missouri Senate Select Committees, signaling a renewed focus on government efficiency and tax reform.
Hudson will chair the Senate Select Committee on Government Modernization and Transformation, and serve as vice chair of the Select Committee on Property Taxes and the State Tax Commission.
In a statement, Hudson emphasized his commitment to cutting government waste and improving agency efficiency. “There is no question that state government is too large, and our agencies spend far too much taxpayer money,” Hudson said. “This committee will work to find the waste, streamline operations, and recommend reforms that can save Missourians money.”
As vice chair of the property tax committee, Hudson said he hopes to address growing calls for reform in Missouri’s property tax system. “Missourians want tax reform—especially property tax reform,” he stated. “This committee will study current policies and the State Tax Commission’s performance to deliver real, lasting change.”
Both committees are expected to play a key role in shaping legislative priorities in the coming year, working closely with the Senate Appropriations Committee and other state leaders. Hudson thanked Pro Tem O’Laughlin for the opportunity and pledged to collaborate with his colleagues to drive “meaningful change for the citizens of Missouri.”
