Severe Weather Preparedness Week Continues with Today’s Topic: Tornadoes

Just in time for severe weather taking place this week and the potential for tornadic activity on Friday, Severe Weather Preparedness Week with the National Weather Service continues with today’s topic: tornadoes.

With tornadoes being a fairly common occurance in the Ozarks during the warmer seasons, it’s important to understand the strength of these weather events, as well as the warnings surrounding them.

Steve Runnels, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, also gives us a list of best practices to keep in mind in case of a tornado emergency.

 

As another reminder, Springfield NWS participation in the statewide tornado drill that was set to take place today has been cancelled.
