Cabool Police arrested a local man after a woman reported her pickup stolen early Tuesday morning. According to a probable cause statement filed by Patrolman James Coffman, the victim told officers her truck was taken from her home sometime between 1:45 and 4:15 a.m. She said the vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys inside and that Shawn Morris did not have permission to use it.
At 5:33 a.m., the victim called back, saying she believed she saw her truck turning onto Summit Drive. Coffman located the vehicle a short time later at Casey’s and found Morris inside the store. When asked if he had taken the truck, Morris reportedly replied, “Yeah, she took my truck so I took hers.”
Morris is accused of stealing a motor vehicle and 1st degree tampering with a motor vehicle, his bond is set at $25,000.
