The Shannon County Sheriff’s Office proudly announces the retirement of Chief Deputy James (Tony) Hughes after more than two decades of dedicated service to law enforcement and public safety.
Chief Deputy Hughes has faithfully served his community, state, and country with integrity and leadership. Throughout his career, Tony has been an invaluable part of this agency, setting an example of professionalism and commitment that will be felt for years to come.
In recognition of his service, Tony Hughes has been granted the full suite of benefits of a retired law enforcement officer for the State of Missouri, including all privileges associated with retired status and LEOSA (HR 218) rights.
On behalf of the citizens of Shannon County and the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office, we extend our deepest gratitude and best wishes to Chief Deputy Hughes as he begins this next chapter of his life. His leadership, wisdom, and friendship will be greatly missed.
At this time, we are also pleased to announce the promotion of Tim Edwards to Chief Deputy. Chief Deputy Edwards has been a dedicated member of the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office and brings a wealth of experience, integrity, and commitment to this new role. We are confident that under his leadership, the tradition of professionalism and service to our community will continue with strength and pride.
Chief Deputy Hughes has been a true cornerstone of this Office and an example of what service and leadership mean. I am proud to have worked alongside him and even prouder to call him a friend. We wish him every blessing in his retirement. I also want to congratulate Chief Deputy Tim Edwards on his promotion and look forward to his continued leadership within our agency.
