St. Louis Man Arrested for Assaulting Houston PD Officer

Houston, MO. – A St. Louis man was arrested on Monday following an attempted traffic stop. An officer with the Houston Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation when the driver, Thomas Spann, Jr., age 32 of St. Louis, was asked to exit the vehicle. Spann threw items at the officer and sped off, nearly striking the officer. 

Houston PD pursued the vehicle to Indian Creek Road where Spann abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. With the assistance of K9 officers, the suspect was tracked down through a heavily wooded area and taken into custody.

Spann is charged with 2nd Degree Assault on Law Enforcement, felony Resisting Arrest, and various traffic charges. He is being held in the Texas County Jail with a bond of $500,000.
