A stolen firearm has been successfully identified and recovered following a report filed with the Howell County Sheriff’s Office earlier this week.
On July 15, 2025, Deputy Austin Ryan responded to a residence on County Road 5130 after receiving an email from a victim reporting her .22 caliber rifle stolen. The victim described the firearm as a Marlin semi-automatic .22 rifle, distinctively engraved with her name on the stock, painted green, and featuring a red rose design.
The female victim reported that her suspicions began when she found .22 caliber shells scattered around her home, items she was certain she hadn’t placed there. After further checking, she discovered both her ammunition and firearm were missing. She also reported that several individuals had been at her residence in recent weeks, though she initially did not suspect them.
Upon investigation, Deputy Ryan showed the victim a photograph of a firearm recovered earlier in the month by Deputy Ryan from Landon Marsh during a July 7th arrest in Caulfield, MO. The victim positively identified the recovered firearm as her stolen rifle.
A probable cause statement regarding the theft is being forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
