Summersville, MO. – A Shannon County ATV accident has ended with the totaling of the ATV, and both serious injuries and criminal charges for the operator.
Jacob Heywood, a 35-year-old Summersville resident, was operating a Yamaha Grizzly ATV on Ballpark Road, an estimated 1 mile South of Summersville, when he overturned the device at 9pm on July 9th.
Haywood was not wearing a safety device, and suffered serious injuries. The severity of his wounds necessitated air ambulance transport to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Haywood was additionally intoxicated at the time of the crash, and faces a misdemeanor charge of DWI, and Careless and Imprudent Driving Involving a Crash.
The investigator of this accident was Trooper J.M. Kenyon of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop G.
