On Sunday, September 21, 2025, law enforcement responded to a report of child abuse involving a juvenile victim in Texas County. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who alleged that Patricia Hodgsdon had slapped and punched him in the face before throwing rocks at him from close range.
Officers observed visible injuries, including significant swelling to the victim’s left brow and two hematomas on the left side of his head. The victim reported that his mother had left the scene following the incident. Due to the severity of the injuries, authorities authorized alternative care and transported the child to Texas County Memorial Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Patricia Hodgsdon was taken into custody and transported to the Texas County Sheriff’s Office. After being advised of her Miranda rights, Hodgsdon agreed to speak with investigators. During the interview, she admitted to striking the child and acknowledged seeing the imprint of her knuckles on his face. She also admitted to throwing rocks at the victim and stated she was aware her actions were wrong.
The child was admitted to the hospital for observation due to a possible brain bleed.
Authorities noted that Hodgsdon has a prior conviction for Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the second degree, stemming from a 2010 case
