Theodosia Man Arrested Following High-speed Chase near School, Injures Deputy

Gainesville, Mo. – On Monday, March 21, 2022 at 10:34 a.m., Deputy Miller with the Ozark County Sheriff responded to a call at Cooks Motel in Theodosia, MO for a report of an individual trespassing on the property. The reported individual was Noel Cole.
 
While patrolling the area looking for Mr. Cole, Deputy Miller was flagged down by Mr. Cole. Deputy Miller requested Mr. Cole pull off the roadway and into a nearby driveway and Mr. Cole refused. Deputy Miller activated emergency lights and sirens, informed Mr. Cole he was not free to leave and again requested he pull off the roadway. Mr. Cole again refused. He placed his vehicle in drive but was blocked in by Deputy Miller’s vehicle. Mr. Cole then proceeded to place his vehicle in reverse and fled onto Winchester Drive.
 
Deputy Miller began pursuing Mr. Cole, who was driving in both left and right ditches, reaching speeds of 75 mph in a 45 mph zone, and traveling at a high rate of speed as he passed Lutie School while students were clearly visible on a walkway next to the roadway. The pursuit continued onto County Road 639, where he continued traveling at a high rate of speed. Mr. Coles vehicle began experiencing mechanical issues and the vehicle came to a stop approximately two miles from Highway P.
 
Deputy Miller approached the vehicle, and instructed Mr. Cole to exit the vehicle, but Mr. Cole refused. Deputy Miller attempted to assist Mr. Cole from the vehicle. Mr. Cole resisted, and during the altercation, Deputy Miller suffered a dislocated finger.
 
Mr. Cole was eventually taken into custody.
 
Due to taser deployment, Mr. Cole was transported to Ozark Healthcare in West Plains for treatment. Mr. Cole was then transported to the Ozark County Jail where he is currently being held on the following charges:
– Assault 1st Degree Or Attempt – Serious Physical Injury Or Special Victim – FELONY A
– Endangering The Welfare Of A Child Creating Substantial Risk – 1st Degree – 2nd/Sub Offense – No Sexual Conduct – FELONY C
– Resisting Arrest/Detention/Stop By Fleeing – Creating A Substantial Risk Of Serious Injury/Death To A Person x 2 – FELONY E
– Harassment – 1st Degree – FELONY E
– Trespass – 1st Degree – Misdemeanor B
BOND: Pursuant to Article 1, Section 32 of the Missouri Constitution, Defendant to be held without bond until further order of the Court.
