Trafffic Stop in Ozark County Leads to Arrest

A man was arrested Friday after deputies say a traffic stop in Bakersfield led to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

According to a probable cause statement filed by the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Hunter Ryan stopped a blue Chevy Trailblazer on March 27 after noticing it had “no front license plate and an obstructed rear license plate” . The driver, identified as Dennis Atkinson, allegedly admitted he did not have a valid license. A records check confirmed his license was revoked.

Deputies say Atkinson consented to a search of the vehicle. During that search, investigators located “a glass pipe containing a white crystal-like residue” that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, along with two baggies—one containing 2.64 grams of a crystal substance and another with white residue—both of which also tested positive for methamphetamine .

Atkinson was taken into custody and transported to the Ozark County Jail on a $5,000 bond for charges of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony driving while revoked.
