On December 12, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Sergeant Aaron Box of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on East Washington Avenue in Ava after observing a vehicle with a broken taillight and detecting a strong odor of marijuana.
The driver, identified as Samara Gauldron, admitted she did not possess a valid driver’s license. Dispatch later confirmed her driving status was suspended. During the stop, deputies noted the odor of marijuana and observed an unlit marijuana joint inside the vehicle.
Gauldron agreed to perform a field sobriety test, which showed no signs of impairment. She was then arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. Before transport, deputies searched her purse and located a double mirror and plastic wrapper containing a white powdery substance, along with a snorting device. Gauldron identified the substance as cocaine, though she claimed it was not hers.
A field test later confirmed the powder was cocaine. Gauldron was transported to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, where she admitted to recent cocaine use but declined to provide a urine sample.
She is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
