Traffic stop leads to arrest

Tuesday, at approximately 1:12 a.m., West Plains Police Officer Colter Reid was on patrol in Sector 3 when he observed a white Pontiac Grand Am on Cherry Street fail to signal a left turn on to Leyda Street. Officer Reid followed the vehicle and observed the vehicle did not have any license plates. Reid conducted a traffic stop in order to investigate the violations.

During the course of the traffic stop, the male driver of the vehicle continued reaching in the center console of the vehicle and putting his hands in his pockets. For officer safety reasons, Officer Reid requested the male subject to exit the vehicle and walk to his patrol car. When the male exited the vehicle, a small plastic baggie containing what has been tentatively identified as methamphetamine fell on to the ground. Officer Reid then placed the male under arrest.
