On October 17, 2025, a Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a gray Mazda 3 traveling 90 mph in a 65 mph zone on US-60 near Norwood. During the stop, the passenger, identified as Jonathan Volner, displayed signs of stimulant impairment including dilated pupils, bloodshot eyes, and rigid muscle tone.
After the driver granted consent to search the vehicle, Volner also consented to a personal search. A cigarette pack found in Volner’s overalls contained a melted plastic straw with a white crystal substance consistent with methamphetamine. Volner initially claimed the substance was crushed hydrocodone pills but later admitted it might be meth, stating he had picked it up that morning.
Volner was arrested and advised of his Miranda Rights. He confirmed the substance was methamphetamine and admitted to using it earlier that day. He is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, bond set at $1500.
