Trial setting for man accused of stabbing Houston man to death set for February

West Plains, Mo. – A trial setting and plea hearing has been set for the man accused of stabbing Billy Hayes, Jr. to death in June of 2021. Adam T. Reams, 39, will stand before Judge John Beger in the Texas County Courthouse on February 21, 2023.

The trial was originally scheduled for December 12, 2022, but a motion by Reams’ attorney for a continuance was granted. In addition to charges of Felony Murder, 1st Degree, Felony Armed Criminal Action, and Felony Abandonment of a Corpse for the death of Billy Hayes, Jr. on June 2, 2021, Reams will also stand trial for other crimes that day, including 1st Degree Domestic Assault committed on Feb. 2, 2021 and Delivery or Possession of a Weapon at County/Private Jail/Correctional Center from Oct. 11, 2021.

While court records officially list Reams as a resident of Waterloo, Illinois, those records also state that Reams has been committing crimes in Texas County since 2016.
