President Donald J. Trump has approved a Major Disaster Declaration for Arkansas in response to severe storms and tornadoes that struck the state on March 14–15. The announcement follows a formal request from Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and a recent call between the two leaders.
Governor Sanders expressed gratitude for the federal support, praising President Trump’s commitment to Arkansas’s recovery efforts. “Our entire state is grateful for President Trump’s leadership and assistance as we recover from the devastating storms,” Sanders said. She also voiced her support for Trump’s proposed reforms to FEMA, which aim to cut costs and increase direct aid to disaster victims.
The declaration includes provisions for Individual Assistance to residents affected by the storms. Governor Sanders also thanked Secretary Kristi Noem for her role in supporting state recovery initiatives.
