Douglas E. Starkey, 66, of Yellville, was arrested Monday by Arkansas State Police on charges of felony Theft of Property and Abuse of Office, following an investigation into missing funds at the Marion County Regional Airport.
The arrest stems from a probe initiated by the 14th Judicial Prosecutor’s Office after financial irregularities were discovered. Investigators with the State Police Criminal Investigation Division found that Starkey, who previously served as treasurer for the airport’s Board of Directors, had allegedly misappropriated $117,696.
Starkey surrendered to the Marion County Detention Center around 1:30 p.m. on May 12 and was released shortly after posting bond. The case remains under active investigation by state authorities.
