West Plains PD and Chief Monticelli Offering Two New Programs For the Public

West Plains, MO. – The West Plains Police Department is currently offering a pair of programs that should work hand-in-hand in establishing and maintaining community feedback, involvement, and communication.

We spoke to Police Chief Stephen Monticelli about these programs. The first is the Police Community Advisory Committee, which is intended to be an organization that can provide direct feedback to the police and provide the force with a good avenue for serving the public more fully. Community members can come from just about any demographic of West Plains, including general residents, those from City Management, those involved with the schools, and more.

The second is the second annual Community Police Academy, this will start later this year in September and goes to November, and will include a once-a-week class where civilians can get a more detailed understanding of how the Police Department functions.

Those who wish to participate in the Community Advisory Committee are encouraged to participate in the Community Police Academy to help with an understanding of the process of keeping the community safe.
