On the morning of September 9, 2025, Winona Police responded to an assault call at Winona Elementary School involving a custody exchange between Jonathon Ehret and his ex-wife.
According to witness and victim statements, a verbal dispute escalated when Ehret allegedly spit on the other party multiple times. As the individual attempted to enter his vehicle, Ehret reportedly kicked the driver’s side door, pinning the victim’s leg and head between the door and frame. He then allegedly slammed the door repeatedly, causing further injury.

Ehret later followed the victims to a nearby preschool, where he continued to confront them. He has been charged with Assault in the First Degree, a Class B felony.
