On October 9, 2025, suspected narcotics were discovered during the jail intake of Amelei Gibson, who was taken into custody after her bondsman revoked her bond related to a prior warrant.
Correctional staff at the Howell County Jail found five white rectangular pills, one yellow round pill later identified as Clonazepam, and a glass jar containing cocaine inside Gibson’s purse. Deputy Brandon D. Barnes responded to the scene and secured the items as evidence.
Gibson admitted to possessing Xanax for sleep but claimed she was unaware of the Clonazepam. She acknowledged the cocaine jar had been in her purse but believed it had been confiscated during a previous law enforcement encounter. Gibson confirmed her warrant stemmed from a prior arrest involving cocaine and a firearm.
She was charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with a bond set at $7000.
