WPPD: Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

On Friday, October 16,  at approximately 3:36 p.m. West Plains Police Officer Colter Reid was on patrol in Sector 1 when he observed a black Lincoln passenger car with no license plates traveling northbound on Porter Wagoner Blvd near 3rd Street. Officer Reid was able to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle on 4th Street just east of Texas Street.

The driver was identified as 52 year old Sean Boyer of West Plains Missouri. During the traffic stop Officer Reid observed evidence of drug activity. Upon further investigation Officer Reid seized approximately seven grams of suspected methamphetamine, multiple prescription drugs, more than $1000 of US Currency, and items Officer Reid recognized were used in the sale of illegal narcotics.

Officer Reid placed Boyer under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While Revoked, and additional traffic offenses.

Boyer, who is a repeat drug offender with an extensive criminal history, was released into the custody of the Howell County Detention Center and is being held on a twenty four hour hold pending formal charges from the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
