West Plains, MO – The West Plains Senior Center is seeking Tax Volunteers to offer assistance to seniors and/or moderate-income families electronically file their State and Federal income tax returns and Missouri Property Tax Credit Rebates.
There are four things to know about becoming a Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Volunteer:
- You don’t need prior experience as training will be provided.
- Basic computer skills are required as all returns are using IRS-approved software
- Volunteers are asked to serve an average of five or more hours per week from February through April
- Volunteer sites are generally at the West Plains Senior Center and other community and neighborhood centers.
Ozark Radio News spoke with WPSC administrator Joy Hays about other volunteer opportunities:
“it’s Joy, the administrator at the West Pine Senior Center. I just wanted to come and talk to the community about our needs and what we need going on at the senior center. We have needs for volunteers, different sections of the volunteer program. We need bingo volunteers on Fridays to be 16 and older, to volunteer for that. We need desk volunteers to help with the meal program and also meals on wheels drivers, volunteer drivers to help deliver our frozen meals out to the seniors in our community. If anybody has any questions or would like to volunteer, they can call me. My name is Joy, I’m the administrator there at 417-256-4055. We’re just really in need and we would love to have the community come in and help us.”
