As the turf replacement project at Zizzer Stadium moves forward, the West Plains R-VII School District has announced it will be giving away a limited amount of old turf to the public.
Approximately 40 rolls of turf will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, likely during the afternoon of Monday, June 23. A final date and time for pick-up will be announced via the district’s social media channels.
Each roll of turf is approximately 7.5 feet wide and 80 feet long, with weights ranging from 1,500 to 2,500 pounds. While most of the infill (sand and rubber) will be removed, the turf will be distributed as-is and cannot be returned. Specific turf sections cannot be reserved.
Important guidelines for pickup:
- A trailer is required—no turf will be loaded into truck beds.
- Turf will be loaded by the turf company only at the designated pickup time.
- A maximum of five rolls is allowed per person or organization.
- Neither the district nor ATG-Ram Industries will be liable for any damage during loading, transport, or unloading.
Those interested are encouraged to follow the West Plains R-VII School District on social media for updates.
