After 33 years of dedicated service to Missouri State University–West Plains, Chancellor Dr. Dennis Lancaster will retire this summer. To honor his remarkable career and contributions to the university and community, the Friends of the Garnett Library are hosting a special retirement celebration.
The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, at the amphitheater next to the Smith London Centennial Bell Tower on the MSU–West Plains campus. In case of inclement weather, the celebration will be moved indoors to the Neurodiversity and Autism Center.
Highlights of the evening will include a performance by the Missouri State–West Plains Band under the direction of Rocky Long and light refreshments provided by the Friends of the Garnett Library. Seating is limited, so guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
In recognition of Dr. Dennis and Rita Lancaster’s lasting dedication to student success, a new Lancaster Music Scholarship has been established to support students pursuing music education. Donations can be made online at missouristatefoundation.org or mailed to the Missouri State University Foundation in Springfield.
The community is invited to attend and help celebrate the enduring legacy of Dr. Lancaster on campus and beyond.
