Texas Man Booked on Vehicle Theft, Damage Charges in Douglas County

AVA, Mo. — A Texas man was arrested on a Douglas County warrant stemming from a 2025 investigation, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Demeng Childress, 57, of Terrell, Texas, was taken into custody on charges of stealing a motor vehicle and first-degree property damage.

Authorities said the charges are connected to an incident investigated by Deputy Shawn Wilson on May 2, 2025.

Bond for Childress was set at $1,500 cash only.

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
