Barbara A. Yearwood was born at Birch Tree, Missouri on February 25, 1935, the daughter of Oren and Opal (Oliver) Grandstaff. She passed away May 30, 2020 at NHC Healthcare, West Plains, Missouri at the age of 85. Barbara was united in marriage to Ernie Yearwood on April 4, 1951, and the couple enjoyed 64 years together.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Ernie; one son, Steve Yearwood; and two sisters, Rachel Sartin and Lavern Evelyn Rutledge.
She is survived by two children, Bud Yearwood and wife, Joyce, of Birch Tree, MO and Melody Goode and husband, Jerry, of Winona, MO; one sister, FloraMae Cooley of Winona, MO; two brothers, Leroy Grandstaff and wife, Kay, and Lester “Buck” Grandstaff and wife, Frieda, all of Birch Tree, MO; four grandchildren, Jacob Yearwood of Yucaipa, CA, Brandon Weaver of Winona, MO, Chad Yearwood of Summersville, MO, and Kim Yearwood of Birch Tree, MO; five great grandchildren, Gavin, Amy, Rylee, Kennabrook, and Griffin; and numerous other family members and friends.
Barbara attended school in Birch Tree, Missouri. She later became a certified RPT and worked 22 years at Birch Tree Place in Birch Tree, Missouri. After becoming an EMT, Barbara worked in the emergency room at St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View, Missouri and as an EMT with the Shannon County Ambulance. Barbara was a Charter Member with St. John’s and was vital in establishing the rural ambulance service in this area.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Winona, Missouri with Bro. Dan Harvey officiating. Services are under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Winona, Missouri. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
