Billy Gene Emmons, 88-year-old resident of Fairdealing, MO, departed this life Saturday, May 31, 2025, at his residence after a lengthy illness. Mr. Emmons was born August 23, 1936, in Poplar Bluff, MO, to the late John & Gertrude (Lansdell) Emmons.
Mr. Emmons was an owner/operator of Emmons Sawmill Company. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent much of his life in the lumber industry. He and his three sons operated the mill for a while at first. Later, he and his son Gary, operated Emmons Sawmill, LLC in Fairdealing. Billy was a faithful member of Living Word Baptist Church. His devotion to his family and his strong work ethic were evident in all he did.
On June 30, 1956, in Poplar Bluff, MO, Mr. Emmons married Mary Etta Edmonds. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Gary (Debbie) Emmons, Randy (Billie) Emmons, Donny (Linda) Emmons all of Fairdealing and Brenda (Dwight) Thompson of Poplar Bluff; eight grandchildren Crystal Tuggle, Carrie (Jason) Baker, Trisha (Terry) Urich, Mandi (Jesse) Chaffin, Derek Emmons, Laramy Gregory, Megan Pappalardo and Hailey (Jemaane) William-Titus. Thirteen great grandchildren, Tyler (Jasmin) Tuggle, Cody Arnold, Caleb DeAlba, Brennon Chamberlain, Kindell Johnson, Britney (Brandt) Collins, Kinyon Johnson, Riley Gregory, Jacob Baker, Emery Emmons, Liam Gregory, Huxley Emmons, and Elijah Gregory, One great-great grandchild, Beau Collins; two sisters Wanda Lyerla of Arnold, MO and Betty Brooks of St. Louis, MO.
Mr. Emmons was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Jerald Emmons, John Jr. Emmons, Wayne Emmons and Mac Emmons and one sister Viginia Wertenberger
Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 5-8 pm with funeral services Tuesday 10 am, June 3, 2025 with burial in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to Living Word Baptist Church.
