A celebration of life for Hazel Irene Davis, Age 98 of Ava, Missouri will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, in Ava, MO. Visitation will be at 12:00 noon, and the funeral service will be at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in the Ava Cemetery. Rev. Gary Swearengin and Rev. Chris Carver will be officiating. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Gideon International.
Hazel Irene Davis, age 98, went into the arms of our Lord Jesus October 9, 2025, at Oak Ponte in Monett, Missouri.
She was born on November 6, 1926, in Granada, Missouri, the daughter of Tommy and Naomi Myers. She was preceded in death by her sister Lola Edwards and 3 brothers, Roby Myers, Leonard Myers and Dave Myers.
She was united in marriage to Charles “Gene” Davis on December 30, 1943, in her senior high school, at the age of 17. They were married for 64 years. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2008. She graduated from Ava High School in 1944. Then she attended Beauty School. She worked as a beauty operator for 27 years. After that she owned and operated a fabric store on Ava square for 8 years which she named “Gene’s Fabric Shop”.
They had two children, Connie Carver, married to Chris Carver Monett, Missouri, and their son Lyle Wayne Davis married Anita Edwards. Lyle Wayne died on April 9, 2003, at the age of 50, from a horrific motorcycle accident on Highway. 5. Lyle was in a coma for 25 years, and Hazel nursed him 24/7 for that entire period.
Gene and Hazel lived in Ava most of their lives and then moved to Nixa for 20 years so Gene could be close to the Springfield hospitals. They have two granddaughters, Dr. Christy Leilani Madalon and husband Mike Madalon and a great grandchild Josephine Madalon, they all live in St. Louis, Missouri, and Carissa Kealani Kell and husband Ryan Kell who live in Georgetown, Texas.
Hazel has been a faithful Christian and a member at the Ava Highway Church of the Nazarene for most of her life and 20 years at the Nixa Church of the Nazarene. She has been a wonderful mother and grandmother.
