Imogene Cornman

Imogene Cornman was born May 8, 1939, in Mountain View, Missouri, to Elza Lee and Pauline Jane (Mansfield) Heavin. She entered into her heavenly home on May 21, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 86.

She was united in marriage to James “Jim” Reed Cornman on December 23, 1960 at Pilgrim Rest Church. They welcomed two sons, Marc Reed and Matthew James to this union.

Imogene obtained her Master’s Degree and taught elementary school for 34 years until she retired. Everybody fondly remembers Mrs. Cornman as their 4th-grade teacher.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and sister, Wanda Heavin.

Survivors include her sons, Marc (Linda) Cornman and Matthew (Sabrina) Cornman; grandchildren, Kylie Quillian, Hailey Cornman, Zane Cornman, Cale Cornman, Zeb Cornman, Lyla Fisher, Braden Cornman, and Cole Cornman; great-grandchildren, Leona Quillian, Lane Hood, Brent Hood, Branch Cornman, Swayze Cornman, Dixie Cornman, Deacon Cornman, Callum Fisher, Jace Daniels, and Adalia Cornman; sisters, Mary Sue Sneed and Ollie Jane Foulk.

Imogene was active in the Mountain View Senior Center as the secretary. She was involved with many functions, from business meetings to planning trips to Branson. She had been the secretary/treasurer for Pilgrim Rest Church for 69 years since she was 17 years old. She also served as secretary for the Alumni Committee, MRTA, and Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.

She loved spending time with her family. She loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She supported them by going to ball games for years.

She will be remembered for her bright white hair and her 1976 Impala that she bought new at Berner Banks Chevrolet.  She was a wonderful lady who always saw the good in everyone.

Her friends and family will cherish the legacy and many wonderful memories she leaves behind.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Pilgrim Rest Church, Mountain View, Missouri with Daniel White and Dan Boothby officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service also at the church. Interment will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery, Mountain View. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
