Julia Lorraine (Camden) Martin, age 80, passed away on July 24, 2023, at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri. She was born on April 29, 1943, in Middle Brook, Missouri, to Jesse E. and Maxine (Pogue) Camden. Julia was married to Manuel Eugene Elliott and later married Joseph Lee Martin.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Manuel Elliott and Joseph Martin; her parents, Jesse and Maxine Camden; one brother, Gale Camden; and two infant siblings, Victoria Colleen and Jesse E. Camden, Jr.
Julia is survived by her three sons, Manuel Lynn Elliott and wife, Alverta of St. Clair, MO, Oscar Dee Elliott of Salem, MO, and Joseph Earl Martin of Steelville, MO; six grandchildren, Samantha, Cassandra, Sierra, Almeda, George, and Jesse; and six great-grandchildren, Lakton, Landon, Carter, Athena, Paizley, and Kamden.
Julia graduated from Eminence High School. She had many jobs in her life, including being a CNA at Sunset Nursing Home in Union, Missouri, and several others as well. Julia was a cook at the Cross County Trail Rides in Eminence and worked and managed Gail’s Canoe Rental with her husband, Joe when it had a mini golf course and water slide. She also ran a sale barn with her husband, Joe. Julia also worked as a waitress and dishwasher at different times in her life. She also worked at Deb Shoe Factory in her younger days in De Soto, Missouri. She loved working at AD Auction Company in the St. Clair and Union areas.
One of Julia’s biggest accomplishments was when she received her driver’s license at 45 years old. She was so excited to be able to drive herself where ever she wanted to go. Julia had many hobbies and interests. Some of her favorites were crossword puzzles, watching Hallmark Channel movies, fishing, and camping. She bowled on a league with her husband, Joe when they lived in Kansas. Julia also enjoyed picking up aluminum cans off the side of the road. She loved her dog, Tiny Tots, listening to classic country and gospel music, and loved going to church when she could.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Yarber Mortuary, Eminence, Missouri, with Pastor James Dunlap officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30-11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bethany Chapel Cemetery, Eminence.
