Kalynn Ann McMurray, 59 years, 7 months, 21 days old, passed peacefully on May 17, 2025, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, with her children by her side.
Kalynn was born September 27, 1965, in Springfield, Missouri, to James Boyd and Lena Mae (Duckworth) VanHouden.
She was raised in the Springfield area and graduated from Glendale High School.
Kalynn was a tax specialist with H&R Block for 26 years.
She devoted her life to her family, her children, and grandchildren. To quote her children, “She was a shining example of hard work and compassion for those around her.” Kalynn’s joy was spending time with her granddaughters, no matter the chore, project, or adventure.
Kalynn was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Jacob VanHouden.
Kalynn is survived by her four children Shelby McMurray, Cody McMurray, Rachelle Miller, and Amber McMurray; her granddaughters, Carter Ann, Rylee Ann, and Wrenlee Mae; her brother and his wife, Jason and Christina VanHouden; her nephew, Jaron VanHouden; her niece, Ryder VanHouden; her sister, Amy VanHouden; her bonus family, extended family, and many friends.
Funeral services for Kalynn will be Friday, May 23, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Ava Cemetery. Her visitation will be prior to the service at 10:00 A.M.
Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn. The family requests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
