Our beloved Laura passed away on May 14th, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones at her home in Alton, Missouri.
Laura Gene Florence was born March 22nd, 1950 in Sikeston, Missouri. Her parents raised her and her two sisters in Bertrand, Missouri. In 1968, she had her first child, Bobby. After moving to Alton, Missouri with her family, she met the love of her life, Carl, and was married on December 24th, 1971. A year later, she had her second child, Christy. Laura loved her family more than anything else. She loved the role of homemaker, as she always wanted to make sure her family was taken care of. Laura had a green thumb like no one else. She loved gardening and tending her many plants. She also had a great love for animals. Whether it was a pet or one of nature’s creatures, she nurtured them as she did her family. She was a devout Christian who enjoyed discussing scripture and listening to gospel music.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Florence, and her sister, Liz Malloy.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Tune of Alton, Missouri, one son, Robert Hutton of West Plains, Missouri, one daughter, Christy Parrott of Alton, Missouri, one grandson, Paul Larington of McCook, Nebraska, one granddaughter, Autumn Parrott of St. Louis, Missouri, one sister, Lois Venable (husband John) of Sikeston, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held May 18th, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm at Clary Funeral Home. Services to celebrate and honor Laura’s life will be held on Monday, May 19th, 2025 at Clary Funeral Home in Alton, Missouri at 1:00pm. Burial will be at Bailey Cemetery immediately following the service.
