Richard Orr

Richard Leslie Orr was born to Fred and Alma (Jones) Orr on January 27th 1935. He was the oldest of 8 children.

Richard attended elementary school at Royal Oak and graduated high school from Thomasville in 1953. After graduation he served in the Army during the Koren War. After his service he lived in St. Louis where he met his future wife Carol Jean Key. They were married in August of 1959. Richard delivered bread for Colonial Bread where he retired after many years. During his retirement he spent his time enjoying life with his family and fishing with his friends. He loved to serve the Lord and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. In the mornings he could be found drinking coffee at the round table of the local restaurant. In the evenings you could find him looking for a ballgame to watch. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals or any game he could find. He enjoyed helping others throughout his years.

Richard is survived by his daughter Dena (Chuck) Applegate of Springfield, MO, son Dennis (Kelley) Orr of Alton, MO, and son-in-law Brian Eschrich of Wilmore, KY. Grandchildren Jamie (Eric) Harvill, Chase (Kelly) Eschrich, Blake (Rachel) Orr, Josiah Applegate, Jaclyn Applegate, Megan (Aaron) Rackley. Great grandchildren Taylor (Eric) Honeycutt, Mason (Hanna) Harvill, Austin Harvill, Cinch, Hattie, and Ivy Orr, Aliyah and Athena Eschrich, Miles Rackley. Great-Great grandchildren Hollyn and Roran Honeycutt, Jackson Harvill. His brothers Ralph and Vernon Orr both of Alton, MO. His sisters Myrtle Little and Shirley Hufstedler both of Alton, MO.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol Jean (Key) Orr, daughter Debbie (Orr) Eschrich, grandson Cody Eschrich, brothers Dwight and Phillip Orr, sister Katherine Griffin, brothers-in-law Phillip Griffin and Joe Bill Little, sisters-in-law Dianne and Louise Orr.

Visitation will be 1-2:00pm Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO with services to follow at 2:00pm, Eric Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
