Leslie Andru Sechrest passed away at home on April 3, 2026, at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary Janice Sechrest, as well as his siblings, Gilbert Sechrest, Levi Sechrest, Freda Sechrest, and Lula Mae (Sechrest) Cooper, and his daughter-in-law, Joyce Sechrest. He was born on March 23, 1938, in Alley Springs to George and Ida Sechrest and married Mary Janice Collins on August 2, 1960. Together, they had three children.
He is survived by his children, Zyndal Andrew Sechrest (Virgie) of Birch Tree, MO, Eric Lee Sechrest of Birch Tree, MO, and Pamela Marcella Pulliam (Lonnie) of Birch Tree, MO; six grandchildren, David, Fredrick, Steven, Russell, Kiaya, and Dakota; twelve great-grandchildren; and one very special brother-in-law, Tony Collins.
Leslie was a man devoted to his Savior, Jesus Christ, his family, and, whenever possible, taking in God’s great outdoors. He was a devoted outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time outside. When he wasn’t outdoors, you could often find him in his woodshop, crafting treasures such as cedar chests, gun cabinets, and many different pieces of furniture.
In his later years, whether inside or outside, he always cherished his time with his K-9 companion, Myrtle, whom he never left at home. From their daily drives to Spring Creek to simple moments watching wrestling and munching on a nutty buddy, they shared a special bond. He will also always be remembered for never missing a chance to tell a joke or play a little joke.
Leslie’s sense of humor and love for telling jokes could always light up a room and leave you with a smile from ear to ear. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him and will always be loved. His memory will live on through all of his friends, family, and loved ones. So, when you hear laughter from a joke or see someone fishing along the banks of the river, always keep an eye out, because you might catch a reminder of a great man whom we were blessed to know and love for a short time.
