He was united in marriage to Perma June Grogan on July 24, 1964. To this union, one child was born, Kevin Loyd Ice.

Loyd grew up in Cabool, Missouri. He served in the United States Air Force with the Military Police from 1954–1958.

Shortly after returning from the military, he answered the call of God in his life to enter the ministry. He served as an Assemblies of God pastor until Perma passed in December of 2003. He continued ministering throughout his retirement years. During that time, God blessed him with a second wife, Laura Mae Morrison.
He and Laura were married at the Cave Restaurant and Resort in Richland, Missouri, on April 7, 2013.  They spent their time going to monthly fellowship meetings that they enjoyed together.

He wasn’t much of a fisherman, but enjoyed it with Laura, and sometimes he would catch a few.  He spent a lot of time on the patio watching the boats on the lake. Loyd said when the sun shone on the water, it reminded him of sparkling diamonds. They also went to Jimmy Swaggart Campground Meetings as well as Camp Meetings in Springfield.  When he wasn’t ministering or fishing with Laura, he loved to watch Gunsmoke and Jimmy Swaggart services on TV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Perma; brothers, Gary Ice, Gene Ice and John Ice and a sister, Maxine (Ice) Scott.

He is survived by his wife Laura Ice; son, Kevin Ice and wife Jody; grandsons, Andrew and Nathan; granddaughters, Stephani, Krystal and Emaleah; great-grandsons, Jaxon, Drake and Dakota Kevin; great-granddaughter, Dixie June and his brother, Eddie Ice.  He was very loved by us all.
