Mary Kosmitis, 95 of Russellville, Arkansas, formerly of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, in Russellville.
She was born in Marion, Louisiana, on January 17, 1930, daughter of the late Edgar V. and Jessie (Bennett) Lowderback. Mary was united in marriage to the late Nick James Kosmitis on October 16, 1952. She obtained a master’s degree in nutrition and spent her working years as a dietician. Mary was always working, rarely having any idle time. She loved Neil Diamond and was especially fond of his song, Sweet Caroline and whenever she heard it, she would smile really big and do what her kids called her “spaz dance”. Mary loved to cook, and she was excellent at it. Mary enjoyed reading, politics and just life in general. She was a giver. Mary loved her husband and missed him greatly after his passing in 2020. She was a member of the Melbourne Church of Christ in Melbourne, Arkansas.
Mary is survived by her son, David Kosmitis and wife Rebecca of Texas; daughters, Elizabeth Callahan and husband James of Russellville and Rachel Ellen Kosmitis of Mountain Home; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Kosmitis; parents; brothers, Edgar V. Lowderback, Jr., Elgie Lowderback and Benny Lowderback and half-sister, Flo Ramsey.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 4, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM at Evening Shadows Memorial Park in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, with Bro. Ryan Lloyd officiating.
