Peggy Joanne (Elmore) Steele, 94, of Summersville, Missouri passed away July 27, 2025 in Mtn. View, Missouri. She was born September 16, 1930 in Springfield, Illinois to Athol and Emma (Lester) Elmore.
While in high school, her family moved to Chicago where she met and married her love, Fredrick J. Steele. To this union, three daughters were born and raised.
In 1976, Fred retired from his business, and they moved to Summersville, Missouri where she resided until her death.
After the passing of Fred, she became very active in three of her favorite activities, dancing, bowling and traveling. She was very involved in Square Dancing and a member of a few different clubs. She traveled to many different cities for Square Dancing events. She bowled in different leagues, always proud of her high scores, especially while in her 90s. Now on the traveling front, if you ever said “do you want to go” or “I was thinking about going” she was immediately on board. Her girls used to tease her and say her middle name was “GO”! Her participation in these activities was only stopped by the COVID restrictions.
Surviving are her daughters, Sheila (D. Richard) Hartman and Tammy (Douglas) Burns, all of Summersville, MO; granddaughter, Ashley (Scott) Welborn and great-grandsons, Taylor and Jackson Welborn all currently in Japan; her sister, Connie Mack of Atlanta, GA and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Fredrick; daughter, Tanya Brundage; son-in-law, James Brundage; parents, Athol and Emma Elmore; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dan Lind; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Jeri Elmore and brother-in-law, Russell Mack.
She will be interred with Fred and Tanya at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens in Springfield, MO
