Ruby Pauline Bradway

Ruby Pauline Sykes Bradway was born November 20, 1927 in Hartshorn, Missouri to Oscar and Gladys (Steelman) Sykes. She was 1 of 13 children.  She passed away August 19, 2022 at her home in Galena, Missouri at the age of 94.

She was united in marriage to Marion Calvin Bradway on June 21, 1946 and to their union 3 children were born: Margaret, Mark and James.

Ruby and Marion moved west shortly after marriage where Marion worked on the Hanford Project in Washington State.  He then joined the Navy and they traveled extensively throughout his career including duty stations at: Kodiak Island, Alaska; Millington, Tennessee; Moffett Field, California and Brunswick, Maine.  They moved back to Missouri in the Spring of 1975 after Marion’s retirement.  During their life they embarked on several adventures from prospecting for gold to camping and fishing.  Ruby also loved to sing everywhere she went.  If you were in the car traveling with her and turned the radio up she would just sing louder!

Ruby was a faithful Christian all her life and grew up attending the Hartshorn Assembly of God Church.  She loved to spend time reading her Bible.  In 1977 Marion gave his heart to Jesus and was called to the ministry.  They spent the next 15 years, until his passing, ministering in both the United States and the Philippines.

She was preceded in death her parents, Oscar and Gladys Sykes; her husband, Marion Bradway; a grandson, Dustin Bradway; sisters, Ethel Sykes, Bertha Ray, Thelma Pittman, Alta Hogan, Ileda Sykes and Mildred Pyatt and brothers, Raymond Sykes, Thurman Sykes and Leroy Sykes.

Ruby is survived by her children: Margaret Cunningham and her husband Ron of Mountain View, Missouri, Mark Bradway and his wife Lorrie of Oologah, Oklahoma and James Bradway and his wife Kimberly of Galena, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; three sisters: Juanita Orchard, Evelyn Alton and Myrtle Young as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.  She will be missed by many.
