Samuel David Gould

Samuel David Gould was born to John R. and Dorothy M. (Weaver) Gould on April 19, 1948, in Teresita, Missouri. He passed away on August 4, 2023, at his home, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Sam attended school in Mountain View, Missouri, and Odessa, Missouri. He graduated from Odessa High School and attended SBU in Mountain View for a year. After graduation, Sam was united in marriage to Barbara Marie Clemons, and two children were born, Shawn David and “Crissy” Renae. After his marriage to Barbara, Sam married, Kim Kum Cha.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William “Bill” Gould.

He leaves to mourn his three children, Shawn Gould, Crissy Gould, and Stacy Vaughn and husband, Jeremy; seven grandchildren, Spence, Shelby, Allison, Emily, Joshua, Jessica, and Jake; one brother, James R. Gould and wife, Sharon; two sisters, Mary Buckner and Andrea See-West and husband, Jim; one sister-in-law, Sally Gould; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sam was drafted into the Army shortly after marrying Barbara and was sent to Vietnam. He served 12 years in the Army and was a life member of the VFW.

Sam had an orange belt in Taekwondo. He retired from General Motors, and after that, he was a self-employed house painter. Sam loved his time at deer camps with his family and was an avid fisherman.

He was much loved by his family and loved spending time with them. He was a witty person and kept us laughing. Sam had a strong belief in God, and we’ll all see him in Heaven.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri, with Pastor George and Louise Smith. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Montier Cemetery, Montier, Missouri. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
