Stella Mae Scott Hoefer, 88-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Friday, June 6, 2025. She was born July 1, 1936, in Doniphan, MO, to the late Sam Picford Ryan and Virgie Lee (Johnson) Ryan.
During her years of employment, Stella had worked for many years as a machine operator at Vitronic where she was a dear friend to many of her coworkers. Known for her fun-spirited personality, Stella brought joy and a spark of adventure to all who knew her. Her warm and loving smile and caring nature endeared her to others, making her a sweetheart. Stella had a natural talent for storytelling, often captivating friends and family with tales which often included outdoor adventures and hunting. Stella was equally known for her love of simple pleasures like enjoying a catfish meal while out with friends and family.
Stella had been married to Curtis Scott who preceded her in death on July 27, 1998. She later married Argie Hoefer who also preceded her in death. Stella was preceded by a son, Michael Scott, and all of her siblings except a sister. They include Acel Ryan, Georgia Taylor, Ruth Taylor, Charles “Pete” Ryan, Dorothy Ray, Edith Garrison, Joe Ryan, and Jerry Ryan.
Surviving is her daughter, Kim Hoefer of Doniphan; granddaughter, Heather Gentry and Zachary (Heather) Barton, also of Doniphan; great-grandson, Colton Carter; a great-great-granddaughter, Magnolia; and a sister, Joyce Grissom of Pocahontas, AR.
Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at noon. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
