Wayne Henry Phipps was born May 15, 1945, in Mountain View, Missouri, to Henry and Nora (Harvill) Phipps. He departed this life on May 6, 2025, at his home in Mountain View, Missouri.
Wayne was a dedicated family man, beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He married Jean Charlene Schleuning on November 26, 1977, in Mountain View, Missouri. Together, they raised their family while he worked as a truck driver for 42 years.
He is preceded in death by his cherished parents, Henry and Nora Phipps; son, Tony Leroy Phipps; sister, Bernita Woolsey; sister-in-law, Mary Schleuning; and brothers-in-law, Jack Williams, Carl Pittman, Richard Bradford, Wilfred Woolsey, Kenneth Chowning, and Bill Patterson.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Jean Phipps; children, Dewayne Phipps of Thayer, MO, Tammy Raspberry of Lawson, MO, Darlena McDaniel of Willow Springs, MO, Liza Reyna of El Paso, TX, Debbie Reyna of Laconia, NH, Kim Davis of Troy, MO, and Valerie Gilder of Mountain View, MO; sisters, Beverly Patterson of Mountain View, MO, Barbara (Don) Marques of Mountain View, MO, Venice Atchley of Texas, and Ernestine Chowning of Dundee, OR, and special nephew, Robert Schleuning of Mountain View, MO; 24 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Wayne was a member of the Church of Christ in Mountain View. He was known for his kindness and generosity. He touched the lives of many individuals through both his profession and personal relationships. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri, with Dan Harvey officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mountain View.
