With Friday night’s 44–20 win over Van Buren, Head Coach Steve Ary moved into second place on the all-time Bomber Football coaching wins list.
The ninth-ranked Mountain Home Bombers continued their impressive run Friday night, rolling past the Van Buren Pointers 44–20 to improve to 8–1 on the season.
The Bombers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Early in the first quarter, Drew Vigna recorded a tackle in the end zone for a safety to give Mountain Home a 2–0 lead. On the ensuing free kick, Connor Schulz electrified the crowd with an 86-yard return for a touchdown, pushing the lead to 8–0 just minutes into the game.
Quarterback Brantlee Phillips took over from there. With 2:11 remaining in the first quarter, Phillips connected with Barrett Miller on a 65-yard strike to make it 14–0 heading into the first break. The Bombers kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter, as Phillips hit Carter Adkins for a 9-yard touchdown and, less than a minute later, found Bryce Kincade for an 8-yard score to stretch the lead to 28–0. Phillips and Adkins linked up again on an 11-yard touchdown late in the half, sending Mountain Home into the locker room with a commanding 35–0 advantage and triggering the AAA sportsmanship rule.
Phillips finished the night completing 7 of 10 passes for 165 yards and four touchdowns. Miller totaled 126 all-purpose yards and a touchdown, while Adkins, Kincade, and Kaeden Dotson also found the end zone through the air.
On defense, Elijah Hillstrom was a force up front, accounting for four of Mountain Home’s 7½ sacks on the night.
After halftime, Van Buren managed to put together a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter, but the Bombers added an Isaac Ballard field goal to maintain a 38–13 lead going into the final period. With 5:44 remaining, Schulz capped his standout performance with his second touchdown of the night, extending the lead to 44–13. Van Buren scored once more late, but Mountain Home sealed the Halloween night victory, 44–20.
With the win, the Bombers improve to 8–1 and will return home next Friday to host Greenwood for Senior Night.
