Blues fire coach Craig Berube

The St. Louis Blues have fired head coach Craig Berube just 28 games into the season. The news came after the Blues lost to Detroit on Tuesday. Drew Bannister will take over as interim head coach. He has served as head coach of the Springfield Thunderbirds, the Blues’ AHL affiliate. Berube finishes his tenure with 206 wins in five-plus seasons. He also led St. Louis to the first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history in the 2018-19 season.

The Detroit Red Wings scored three times in the third period during a 6-4 win over the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center. Marco Scandella scored for St. Louis at the end of the second period to give the Blues a 4-3 lead, but Lucas Raymond tied things up in the first minute of the third. Robby Fabbri knocked in the go-ahead goal six minutes later, and Michael Rasmussen put the game away with an empty netter. The Red Wings snapped a three-game losing streak. Kevin Hayes scored twice in the losing effort. The Blues are on a four-game losing streak.
