Sonny Gray dazzled in his second Cardinals start as St. Louis beat the Oakland A’s 3-1 at Oakland Coliseum. Gray struck out six and gave up just four hits in six scoreless innings to earn his second win, while Ryan Helsley picked up his sixth save. Nolan Arenado got the scoring started with an RBI single in the top of the first, while Willson Contreras and Jordan Walker both knocked in a run in the sixth. St. Louis snapped a two-game losing streak. Esteury Ruiz homered in the losing effort, while Ross Stripling fell to 0-and-4 after allowing three runs on six hits in five-and-two-thirds innings. The A’s have dropped two of their last three games.
