The Royals split their doubleheader against the Cardinals. Kansas City lost to St. Louis 6-5 in the first game of the day before winning the second outing 7-5 at Busch Stadium. Jonathan India and Vinnie Pasquantino each had two RBIs in the loss, while Maikel Garcia and Salvador Perez each drove-in a pair of runs in the victory. Carlos Estevez was tagged with the loss in game one before notching his 18th save in game two. Angel Zerpa earned the win in relief as the Royals now sit at 33-and-30. They visit the Chicago White Sox tonight.
Willson Contreras hit a walk-off single in the victory, while Ivan Herrera hit a two-run home run in the first game. The Cardinals surrendered 12 hits in a 7-5 loss in the second game. Nolan Arenado homered in the losing effort, and Matthew Liberatore was charged with the loss after surrendering seven runs on eight hits in four innings. The Cardinals are in second place in the NL Central at 34-and-28. Sonny Gray starts for St. Louis against the Dodgers tonight.
