Chiefs-Texans preview cuts

The Chiefs will be without their starting blindside blocker for at least the next four games. Kansas City coach Andy Reid said that left tackle Josh Simmons will be placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery to repair his dislocated and fractured left wrist. The rookie first-rounder sustained the injury in the team’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving when he collided with running back Kareem Hunt late in the third quarter. Reid said the team will turn to Wanya Morris [[ WAHN-yay ]] to step in for Simmons at left tackle. Morris has 15 career starts over the past three seasons.

The Chiefs are continuing to prepare for their Week 14 matchup. Kansas City will host the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football at Arrowhead Stadium. Cornerback Chris Roland-Wallace, right guard Trey Smith and right tackle Jawaan Taylor did not participate in yesterday’s practice. The Chiefs are third in the AFC West at 6-and-6. In other news, the team’s game against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving was the most-watched regular season game in NFL history.
